Before Vienna, Drupal Developer Days 2022 was hosted by the lovely Belgian city of Ghent.
It was originally planned for 2020, but then we were all busy by keeping ourselves safe during the pandemic lockdown... good that this period is over and we can meet in person again!
Far from the crowds of Brussels or Antwerp, and sometimes overseen in the shadow of its neighbor Bruge, Ghent has a lot to offer! Well maintained medieval architecture mixed with modern infrastructure, car-free central area, University, and Drupal, of course!
So let's see how one can get from Ghent to Burgas
The quickest way
- Take a Flibco bus from Ghent to Charleroi airport. There are about 10 routes a day, journey takes 1 hour 45 minutes
- Take any of 18 possible connection flights to Burgas. Recommended connections are via Sofia, Bratislava, Budapest, Prague and Vienna
Even faster!
As suggested by Sven from Ghent after original post was published:
I will be coming from Ghent to Burgas, and have arranged my travel differently.
There is a direct flight between Brussels Airport on Tuesday 25th of June & back on Saturday 29th of June.
No other direct flights during that week, but it might be interesting to add that to the website, since it's a far shorter travelling time than the alternatives on your site.
Details about the flights:
Outbound - operated by TUI - Tuesday 25/06/2024 -13h45 (BRU) -> 18h00 (BOJ) - flight TB 2861
Inbound - operated by TUI - Saturday 29/06/2024 - 18h40 (BRU) --> 22h25 (BOJ) - flight TB 2861
Thank you Sven! Hopefully, this will help others who travel from Ghent or other parts of Belgium
The bus alternative
You can buy direct ticket from Ghent to Burgas via Flixbus. The route consists of 3 legs Ghent - Brussels, Brussels - Augsburg, and Augsburg - Burgas (the last one is operated by Bulgarian partner of Flixbus - Karat-S)

By train
Using fast international rail network, you can get from Ghent via Brussels to Bucharest. From Bucharest, you can continue either by train, or take a bus (multiple routes and providers)
